Closing of File Proceedings in honour of the late Hon. Justice Fred Ochieng, JA

“One of the most enduring contributions Justice Ochieng made to this institution was in the realm of judicial education. The Judicial Service Commission, among its functions, is charged with ensuring the continuous training and professional development of judges and judicial officers. In this space, Justice Ochieng was not merely a participant, he was a builder. He pioneered training in refugee law, bringing sensitivity and rigour to an area of law that affects some of the most vulnerable people who ever walk into our courts. He led the development of practical guidebooks on commercial law, company and insolvency law, and on anti-corruption and economic crimes. These are not merely texts on a shelf; they are tools that continue to shape how justice is administered across our courts, long after the hand that crafted them has stilled.” Hon. Everlyne Olwande – Commissioner, Judicial Service Commission
