Hon. Lady Justice Njoki Ndungu, CBS, SCJ, has been elected unopposed as the representative of the Supreme Court to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), following the passing of Judge Mohammed Kadhar Ibrahim.
The election was presided over by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Returning Officer, Dr. Swalhah Yusuf. This election is pursuant to a requirement in the Judicial Service Act, 2011 to submit a fresh nominee for appointment within 21 days of a vacancy occurring in the Commission.
Justice Ndungu who now assumes this critical role at the JSC, has served as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Kenya since her appointment in June 2011.
She is widely recognised as a prominent jurist and human rights advocate, with notable contributions to constitutional interpretation, gender justice, and the advancement of equality jurisprudence in Kenya.
