JSC Participates in the Inaugural Annual High Court Summit

The JSC participated in the inaugural Annual High Court Summit, themed “Upholding Human Rights in a Changing Kenya.” In his remarks, JSC Vice Chairperson Isaac Rutto emphasized that the responsibility of upholding human rights extends beyond the Judiciary “effective collaboration across government, civil society and the private sector will create an environment where justice thrives and fundamental rights are upheld. Such partnerships are essential to building a resilient system that protects human dignity and upholds the rule of law.”

 In her keynote address, JSC Chairperson and Chief Justice Martha Koome acknowledged the persistent challenges in promoting and protecting human rights in Kenya. She emphasized that the Kenyan Constitution must remain the guiding framework, urging stakeholders to adapt to shifting circumstances while maintaining an unwavering commitment to justice, equality and human dignity.

 The summit provided a platform for exchanging insights, addressing challenges and fostering partnerships aimed at strengthening human rights protections amid a rapidly evolving social, political, and economic landscape. It underscored the importance of collective action in promoting justice, equity and the rule of law.
